Board Workshops
In addition to the Certified Board Member (CBM) Essential Training open to all newly elected board members, MSBA member districts have the opportunity to participate in onsite, research-based professional development workshops specifically designed for board members and superintendents. Each session lasts approximately two hours and focuses on a different topic or group of topics related to improved governance practices correlated to student achievement. Sessions include:
- Self Assessment for Student Achievement (board roles, responsibilities, work and tools)
- Performance-based Superintendent Evaluation
- Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and Community Engagement
- School Boards and Professional Development Plans
- Open Meeting Agenda
- Data-based Decision Making
MSBA trainers frequently customize workshops to address specific school board needs. For questions about topics not listed here, call MSBA’s Academy of Public School Governance at (573) 445-9920 ext 304.
