Bill would change makeup of Kansas City School Board

3/4 The House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee meets Tuesday to hear HB 348 (Neth), a bill that would change the makeup of the Kansas City Board of Education from nine members to seven members. Nearly all school boards in the state have seven members. The committee also hears HB 587 (Remole), a bill that designates county clerk's offices as polling places for registered sex offenders. This bill is needed since school buildings are often used as polling places in elections.
