The Missouri Safe Schools and Colleges Conference is designed for persons who govern and work in public and nonpublic schools and colleges and universities along with local law enforcement officials, the health community, fire fighters, emergency responders and others who help and are interested in keeping schools and colleges safe—members of all these groups will benefit from attendance. While our Nation's schools and colleges are relatively safe places, they can always improve. The conference is designed to:

  • Promote information about best practices for making schools and colleges safer;
  • Share lessons learned from prior incidents of violence that have taken place at educational institutions;
  • Bring together experts and professionals to consider and discuss effective violence prevention and other intervention strategies to reduce risk to human life when emergencies occur;
  • Provide opportunities for networking with a diverse group of professionals; and
  • Foster interaction with key officials who influence policies and practices of schools and colleges.
  • Inquiries about the conference should be directed to contact Dr. Joel Denney, Associate Executive Director (email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
