If you have an interest in serving in a leadership role as an MSBA officer or regional representative on the MSBA Board of Directors now is your chance to get involved.
Any Board of Education member whose district is a current member of MSBA is eligible for statewide officer or Board of Director nomination. Nominations for officer positions may be submitted by the board member's own school board or any other MSBA member board. Nominations for Board of Director positions may be submitted by the board member's own school board or any other MSBA member board in the candidate's respective region.
The MSBA Nominating Committee met on October 24 and finalized the calendar for submitting nominees for the 2010-2011 MSBA Statewide Officers. Nominations for the offices of President-Elect and Vice-President must be submitted to the Nominating Committee by February 10, 2010. Information forms will then be sent to nominees and must be returned to the Nominating Committee by February 19, 2010. Candidates will be interviewed and a short video interview will be taped at the MSBA Headquarters Building in Columbia on March 9, 2010. Recommendations from the Nominating Committee will be reported to the MSBA membership by March 25, 2010.
Nominations for the MSBA Board of Directors are due by March 1, 2010. Elections will be held for the Leadership Development Chairs in Regions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 respectively. Elections for Governmental Relations Chairs will be held in Regions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 respectively. Members of the MSBA Board of Directors currently holding those positions and who wish to seek re-election must have a nomination form submitted on their behalf. Total elected service is limited to eight years.
Election of officers and Board of Director members will occur during the June 11, 2010 Delegate Assembly.
