Outreach

MSBA provides its members ready access to the latest updates on school-related matters, regular forums to exchange ideas, full board training tailored to the specific needs of each district, and result-focused Superintendent Search services.

Keeping current

Each month, members receive, through the mail, Board Bulletin, a fact-filled update of association and educational related news, training opportunities and other calendar items, and profiles of how districts across Missouri are using innovative solutions to serve their students.

When the news is more pressing, the MSBA Web site is the place to turn for breaking updates. The site also showcases upcoming events (provides online registration), provides articles and other reference material, and offers school board members a confidential way to track their personal CBM credit totals.

The Web site is also the home of ESGN, MSBA's online educational programming service. School board members and school officials can access these programs from the comfort of their home computer, or invite the public and broadcast them at the district office or a school. Programs are available live, and are also archived for viewing at a later more convenient date.

During the legislative session, Legislative Voice provides a weekly review of legislative activities in Jefferson City and what they mean to school boards and the districts they serve.

Training and networking opportunities

Individual school boards can take advantage of custom-designed Whole Board Training on a host of different topics, led by MSBA staff members, and delivered on-site at your district. From a two-hour session to a weekend-long retreat, MSBA can design a program to fit your specific needs.

In addition, Regional Meetings are held in the Spring and Fall in each of the 17 MSBA Regions, providing educational and networking opportunities.

Superintendent Search

When faced with the need to hire a Superintendent, most school districts turn to MSBA's Superintendent Search Program. Districts receive personal attention from a qualified search consultant, who works with the Board of Education to establish a district specific profile for their next superintendent. The consultant then identifies and presents a slate of qualified candidates for the Board's consideration. Once the Board selects the candidate to interview, MSBA will prepare the Board for the interview process and ultimate selection.
