Purpose:
The Governance Committee provides guidance to the MSBA Board of Directors. The Committee works with the Board to express the beliefs and goals of the Association's membership in its formal governing documents and to structure the Board's committees to best serve school board members.
Activities:
The Governance Committee is responsible for recommending revisions of the long-term plans and basic tenets of the Association to the Board of Directors to reflect new challenges faced by member districts. The Committee also works to keep the Board current by reshaping Board committees and Association dues, ensuring that MSBA is ready to respond to the present and future needs of its members.
Committee Structure:
The President chairs this committee, which also includes eight regional leadership chairs, eight governmental relations chairs and one large district representative or K-8 representative from the Board of Directors.
