Congressman Skelton speaks to students during ESGN program
Congressman Ike Skelton of Missouri's Fourth District called Afghanistan "The Forgotten War" during remarks at the Harry S. Truman Library in Independence on November 11. Skelton is chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. His speech was part of the "Issues of the 21st Century" series sponsored by the Holden Public Policy Forum at Webster University. The event was available on the Education Solutions Global Network, an Internet television service of the Missouri School Boards' Association.

During his speech Skelton said, "I believe we must reinforce the success in Afghanistan by sending some portion of the forces being withdrawn from Iraq to Afghanistan." He took questions from audience members including students from an 8th grade class in Liberty taught by Missouri's Teacher of the Year, Eric Langhorst.

The Holden Public Policy Forum is led by former Missouri Governor Bob Holden and features a bi-partisan series of speakers on a variety of issues. ESGN is working with the Forum to make the series available to viewers through the world. You can find more information on ESGN programming by visiting www.esgn.tv.
