A consultant for MSBA's superintendent search service, Dr. Jerry Waddle, has been honored as one of the 2008 Pioneers in Education by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Waddle, of Cape Girardeau, was superintendent of the Delta R-V, Scott County R-IV, and Dexter school districts. In his retirement he worked for Southeast Missouri State University where he was director of the Regional Professional Development Center and later an associate professor. He still teaches at SEMO part time and currently serves as a consultant with MSBA. Since 1974, state education officials have selected 232 Pioneers in Education. The award honors classroom teachers, school administrators, legislators and citizens for their distinguished service and leadership to Missouri public education. MSBA has provided the Superintendent Search Program to assist local school boards with this extremely important decision since 1984 MSBA assists with 25-30 superintendent searches in the state every year.
