Advocacy Positions

Following input from members this summer, the Advocacy Committee and Executive Committee have finalized the proposed Advocacy Positions document for MSBA. This document combines MSBA’s three previous advocacy documents, Legislative Resolutions, Platform Statements and the Missouri Public Education Vision Project, into one document. The Advocacy Positions document is being provided to all Delegates as part of the Delegate Assembly Handbook for consideration at the October 6 meeting at the Lake of the Ozarks.

NEW! Pre-Delegate Meeting
Delegates are encouraged to attend one of the pre-Delegate Assembly meetings that will be held in conjunction with the 2017 MSBA Annual Conference. This is your opportunity to ask questions about the proposed Advocacy Positions Document.

Be sure your school board is represented at the Delegate Assembly.
Every MSBA member school board is entitled to send at least one voting delegate to the Delegate Assembly that is held in conjunction with the Annual Conference. Delegates do not have to be a conference attendee to participate in the pre-meeting or the Delegate Assembly, but please register through conference registration here.

More About the Document

“The purpose is to have a concise document that clearly articulates our positions on legislative issues affecting public education to help with advocacy efforts as we work with lawmakers on the state and federal level,” says MSBA President Jan Mees. “Our focus must be on what’s best for the children in our schools, and the positions we take on issues are extremely important to ensure the success of our students.”
