Applications for the 2018 OBOE awards will be available in January 2018.
The board’s online application must demonstrate evidence of preparation by board members and provide evidence of how the board demonstrates the criteria for the category in which it is applying. Responses are limited to the space provided. Additional pages, including appendices, will not be accepted or considered. Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on the submission date. The 2018 submission date will be announced in January 2018.
Applications will be reviewed by the MSBA Leadership Development Committee. Applications are rated according to the degree to which there is clarity of the outstanding accomplishment, congruence of the evidence and board responsibility with the accomplishment, and quality of the evidence as it relates to the criteria for the category. All boards of education that score sufficiently will receive recognition as Outstanding Boards of Education in the respective category. Some categories may not have winners every year.
Boards selected for recognition will be announced through various media and events during and after the annual MSBA Leadership Summit in June.
The Outstanding Boards of Education in each category will assist MSBA in promoting effective governance practices by sharing their outstanding accomplishments through various MSBA communication channels, including but not limited to publications, media outlets and/or presentations at meetings and the MSBA Annual Conference.
